Statistics Dont Lie...

STATISTICS DON'T LIE!!!
How to stay safe in the World today!
Where IS the Safest Place?

1.. Avoid riding in automobiles
because they are responsible for
20% of all fatal accidents.

2. Do not stay home because
17% of all accidents occur in the home.

3. Avoid walking on streets or sidewalks
because 14% of all accidents
occur to pedestrians.

4.. Avoid traveling by air, rail, or water
because 16% of all accidents involve
these forms of transportation.

5. Of the remaining 33%,
32% of all deaths occur in Hospitals.
So, above all else, avoid hospitals.

But. . ..

You will be pleased to learn that only ...001%
of all deaths occur in worship services in church,
and these are usually related to previous physical
disorders. Therefore, logic tells us that the safest
place for you to be at any given point in time is at
church!

And . . . Bible study is safe too!

The percentage of deaths
during Bible study is even less.

So, Attend church, and read your Bible
IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE!

GOD BLESS YOU!!!

16 Days and Counting...

*Liam at 8 weeks*

I can not believe my pressious son is going to be one year old already. So many times in this past year I have heard people say, "Ohhh they grow so fast, my child is already ___ years old, and it seems like yesterday he/she was just born". I swear, every mother has said this AT LEAST 50 times to someone else. Every time I hear someone say that I think to myself, my goodness- again??? But- My GOODNESS, now I am that Mom. I am the one saying, "ohhh they grow so fast"...

So, this got me thinking- 16 days?????????????? Oh no. I havent even got birthday invitations sent out. I havent even started thinking about what I am going to do for him other then bake a darn dairy/egg free cake (by the way- I still havent figured out how to make it). So, what do I do for a one year old? Is having a party really for him or for his Dad and I? Big party or small party? It is such a complicated decision to make on behalf of a one year old.

Big party or small party? Food or just cake? I need answers to these questions- can you help???? Any ideas for a party would be VERY much appreciated.

What I Believe In...

Today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the first day of Lent! The key to understanding the meaning of Lent is simple: Baptism. Preparation for Baptism and for renewing baptismal commitment lies at the heart of the season. Why is Baptism so important in our Lenten understanding? Lent as a 40-day season developed in the fourth century. Catholics believe it began as a process of preparation for Baptism, including an intense period of preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation to be celebrated at Easter.

Ash Wednesday liturgies are some of the best attended in the entire year. Some people suggest that is just because the Church is giving out something free, but I suspect there are deeper reasons! Ashes are an ancient symbol of repentance (sackcloth and ashes). They also remind us of our mortality ("remember that you are dust") and thus of the day when we will stand before God and be judged. This can be linked easily to the death and resurrection motif of Baptism. To prepare well for the day we die, we must die now to sin and rise to new life in Christ. Being marked with ashes at the beginning of Lent indicates our recognition of the need for deeper conversion of our lives during this season of renewal.

For most older Catholics, the first thought that Lent brings to mind is giving something up. In my childhood, the standard was to give up candy, a discipline that found suitable reward in the baskets of sugary treats we received on Easter. Some of us even added to the Easter surplus by saving candy all through Lent, stockpiling what we would have eaten had we not promised to give it up. Lent is about conversion, turning our lives more completely over to Christ and his way of life. That always involves giving up sin in some form. The goal is not just to abstain from sin for the duration of Lent but to root sin out of our lives forever. Conversion means leaving behind an old way of living and acting in order to embrace new life in Christ. For catechumens, Lent is a period intended to bring their initial conversion to completion.

I was raised to ALWAYS sacrifice something during Lent. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of that, as well as fasting on Fridays. So, after several weeks of thinking about what I am giving up I have decided to give up candy and sweets. This is going to be very hard for me because I have HUGE sweet tooth, but through Christ all things are possible.

What are you giving up for Lent?

Duncan

I have exactly one month to try and figure out how to bake a cake without using eggs. I am 2 cakes down and unsuccesful. The first one I tried from scratch from a recipe I got from a friend. It did not come out at all... I thought that since I am not the best baker in the world that it was something I did wrong.

Along came Duncan. Duncan Hines that is. It is the only boxed cake mix that does not contain milk. I heard that you can substitute the egg with either soy milk or applesuace. I have tried both. Today I tried the soy milk and this is what happened when I tried to get it out of the pan.... Ughhhhhh. FRUSTRATING.

So, now I need to find something called Ener-G Egg Replacer... I am PRAYING that I can substitute the 3 eggs with this stuff and it will come out. Wish me luck. I am hoping the 3rd time is the charm. I really want my son to enjoy cake for his first birthday.

Crisis Over...

Found it. Hiding under the remote on my couch. Dont remember ever taking it off. Must have had a lot on my mind... Prayer works!

Pray For Me

I need your prayers right now. REALLY bad. I lost my wedding ring. Yes, I said it... Yes I did. Dang it. How could I be so clumsy. I just realized about 20 minutes ago that it is NOT on my finger. I do not ever remember taking it off and I can not find it at home. Please pray that it is at work. I would drive there right now and look, however, I live 30 miles away from work. I am FREAKING OUT. Pray, pray, pray...
